Profile of Students: Their Success

Since 1996, many students had graduated from Perdana and moved on to various universities in different countries. We will provide a regular update of these students in this section. In this issue, we feature Sharmin Shobnom and AYM Rashed Khan.

Sharmin Shobnom

Sharmin was our scholarship student from Kusthia. Upon the completion of her SSC examination in April 2007, she enrolled in Perdana's University Foundation Program with the plan to eventually transfer to our partner university, Northumbria University.

Due to her excellent SSC result, she was offered Perdana's Foundation Scholarship upon her admission. Sharmin completed her UFP in a year and then entered Year 1 of Business Information Systems program in May, 2008. She received Perdana's Academic Awards, that speaks volume of her ability.

In September 2009, she entered second year of the Business Information Systems program in the Northumbria University, and received a 1,000 pound scholarship. At the same time, his elder brother Jahidul Haque also entered the Final Year of the Business Information Technology course in the Northumbria University. Jahidul also completed his UFP and Year 1 & Year 2 of his Business Information Systems program with Perdana.

AYM Rashed Khan

In September 2005, Rashed enrolled in our UFP right after his SSC examination. He was able to graduate from the PUP within a year and then completed the 60 credits required by the business administration advance diploma program in just four semesters (16 months). In January 2008, he left for the Northumbria University, UK, to pursue the Final Year of his Business Studies.

Overall, it only took Rashed seven semesters (2 years 4 months) to cover from PUP to the Final Year of his undergraduate program, an academic feat in itself. In 10 months' time, he will graduate with a BA (Hons) International Business Management program. This means eventually he can complete his degree, right after his SSC, in a mere 3 years 2 months.

In recognition of Rashed's strong academic record, the Northumbria University offered him a 1,000 pound scholarship.

Rashed has returned to Bangladesh in March 2009 and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Matriculation of Perdana College.

Northumbria University is named Best New University by The Times Good University Guide 2006. It is also rated as a top 15 UK university for teaching.
