Information Gateways

Information Gateways provides organized and categorized access to particular subjects or topics. Their searches return more relevant result, but may not be as extensive as the one from a search engine. The results may be less up-to-date as they tend to update their database less frequently.

This powerful Internet search tool is developed by Elsevier Science to serve scientists, students and anyone searching for scientific information to chart and pinpoint data, locate university sites, and find reports and articles in a clutter-free, friendly and efficient manner. Scirus differentiates itself from other search engines by concentrating on scientific content only and by searching both web and journal sources.

An enormous online interactive library with an extensive and diverse collection of records relating to culture, history and science. Links to 44 subject gateways.

SOSIG
As part of the UK Resource Discovery Network, the Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG) is anInternet service which aims to provide a trusted source of selected, high quality Internet information for students, academics, researchers and practitioners in the social sciences, business and law.

WWW Virtual Library
This was one of the first international subject arranged gateways. While it concentrates on US sites, it does list many UK and European ones too.
