Fall Semester 2007 Orientation and Award Ceremony
September 05, 2007
A day-long Fall Semester 2007 freshmen orientation of the Perdana College was held on August 31 on the College's campus auditorium. All the new students, their guardians and some senior students were present for the auspicious occasion as these new and eager students begin a new phase of their education journey.
The College looks upon itself as a custodian to pass on the knowledge and to stimulate the students to deeper, well-rounded, and industrially-relevant learning. Mr. Henry Coulter, Head of the English Department, chaired the program, while Dr. Wong Kah-Hieng, VP of Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address. The function was also attended by senior academic and administrative staff of the College.
The Graduation Ceremony of the latest batch of our pre-university students was also held on the same occasion, followed by a tea reception. Most of these graduates are entering Year 1 of Perdana's academic programs, while some are moving on to partner universities overseas. The proud guardians are present to witness this rite of passage.
In recognition of their excellent SSC result and first-semester Pre-University Matriculation result, the College offered scholarships to Ms. Radiya Alam and Ms. Sharmin Shobnom. Ten percent of the College students are scholarship holders.
Incidentally, on August 31, 2007, Malaysia celebrated the 50th years of its Nationhood. As a College with a Malaysian root, we celebrated the occasion with a simple cake-cutting ceremony, a joy shared by all who were present.
