November 29, 2007

On the eve of November 15, Cyclone Sidr left a devastating trail stretching north east from Sundarban, Barguna, Bhola, Barisal, up to Chandpur and Comilla. At ground zero, the needs of the poor are acute, whether in terms of food, drinking water, shelter, warm clothing, or medical care. These needs are compounded by the approaching footstep of winter. A disaster of this scale calls for active participation from every one, whether at home or abroad.
The College raised fund from among the students, staff, and alumni for the cyclone victims. Apart from helping the victims, we aim to promote a caring and giving society, a virtue that the College holds. Many gave generously and sacrificially. The amount was donated to the Chief Advisor's Cyclone Relief Fund today.
In addition, some students are organizing a musical concert to be held in the Russian Cultural Center, Dhanmondi, to raise funds. We are glad they take the initiative to be involved in a meaningful way.
